Movement or coordination highly affected throughout the trunk and legs with grip mildly affected in the hands.

Absence of legs and one forearm.

SM4 is for medley swimmers with movement affected to a high degree in the trunk and legs, who are also affected in the hands, or the absence of limbs.

These swimmers generate the majority of their power from the shoulders. They use alternating breathing patterns to keep their body position high in the water and turn predominantly using their arms with little or no push from the wall coming from the legs.
